Sanskrit:
परा प्रत्यक्चितीरूपा पश्यन्ती परदेवता ।
मध्यमा वैखरीरूपा भक्तमानसहंसिका ॥ ८१ ॥
English:
parā pratyakcitīrūpā paśyantī paradēvatā |
madhyamā vaikharīrūpā bhaktamānasahaṁsikā ॥ 81 ॥
Tamil:
பரா ப்ரத்யக்சிதீரூபா பஶ்யந்தீ பரதே³வதா ।
மத்⁴யமா வைக²ரீரூபா ப⁴க்தமாநஸஹம்ஸிகா ॥ 81 ॥
Meaning:
The Supreme Goddess of Divine Speech, present in all four stages through which every word is born.
As Parā, She is the transcendental source of all sound, resting in pure consciousness before even a thought arises.
As Paśyantī, She is the first subtle vision of an idea, where knowledge exists in its undivided form.
As Madhyamā, She shapes that inner vision into thought and meaning within the mind.
As Vaikharī, She finally blossoms into spoken words, sacred mantras, music, poetry, and every noble expression.
Thus, every word of truth, every mantra, every hymn, and every prayer is ultimately Her own expression.
Finally, as Bhaktamānasahaṁsikā, She resides like a graceful swan in the tranquil lake of a devotee’s heart, joyfully dwelling where love, purity, and devotion prevail.
Meditation:
This verse reveals that the Divine Mother is present long before words are spoken.
Every mantra, every prayer, every hymn, and every act of loving speech begins as Her subtle presence.
Meditate on Parā as the silent awareness before thoughts arise.
Meditate on Paśyantī as the first flash of divine inspiration.
Meditate on Madhyamā as the quiet shaping of wisdom within the heart.
Meditate on Vaikharī as the sacred words that uplift, heal, and inspire others.
The final name, Bhaktamānasahaṁsikā, is especially beautiful. Just as the mythical swan is said to separate milk from water, the Divine Mother dwelling in the devotee’s heart grants viveka—the ability to distinguish the eternal from the temporary, truth from illusion, and wisdom from mere information.
When the heart becomes calm like a still lake through devotion, the Mother naturally chooses it as Her abode.
This verse reminds us that every noble word we speak, every mantra we chant, and every moment of silent meditation is the Divine Mother expressing Herself through us.
