English:

kṣētrasvarūpā kṣētrēśī kṣētrakṣētrajñapālinī |
kṣayavr̥ddhivinirmuktā kṣētrapālasamarcitā ॥ 76 ॥

Tamil:

Meaning:

The Supreme Indwelling Presence who is simultaneously the field, the ruler of the field, and the protector of the one who experiences the field. She is the living consciousness within every body, every sacred shrine, and the entire universe.

As Kṣētrasvarūpā, the whole universe is Her body. As Kṣētrēśī, She governs every sacred space, every temple, and every heart. As Kṣētrakṣētrajñapālinī, She lovingly protects both our physical existence and our spiritual consciousness, guiding the soul through its earthly journey.

Being Kayavddhivinirmuktā, She remains eternally unchanged while all creation undergoes birth, growth, decay, and dissolution. As Kṣētrapālasamarcitā, even the divine guardians who protect temples and sacred realms bow before Her, acknowledging Her as the Supreme Goddess.

Meditation:

This verse gently shifts our understanding of spirituality from external pilgrimage to inner realization.

The Mother teaches us that our own body is a sacred ketra (temple), and our heart is Her sanctum. Every thought, action, and experience becomes an offering when we recognize Her presence within.

Meditating on Kṣētrakṣētrajñapālinī reminds us that She protects not only our physical life but also the divine awareness awakening within us. Even while the body changes with age, and circumstances rise and fall, She remains Kayavddhivinirmuktā—the unchanging witness beyond all transformation.

This verse also echoes the profound teaching of the Bhagavad Gītā (Chapter 13): the body is the Ketra (field), and the Self is the Kṣētrajña (knower of the field). Lalitā is the supreme reality who pervades, governs, and protects both, revealing that all existence is sustained by Her divine presence.

Meditating on this verse inspires us to see every place as sacred, every being as divine, and our own heart as the eternal abode of the Mother.
