तटिल्लतासमरुचिः षट्चक्रोपरिसंस्थिता ।
महासक्तिः कुण्डलिनी बिसतन्तुतनीयसी ॥ ४० ॥

mahāsaktiḥ kuṇḍalinī bisatantutanīyasī ॥ 40 ॥

தடில்லதாஸமருசி꞉ ஷட்சக்ரோபரிஸம்ஸ்தி²தா ।
மஹாஸக்தி꞉ குண்ட³லிநீ பி³ஸதந்துதநீயஸீ ॥ 40 ॥
Meaning:
In this 40th verse, Śrī Lalitā appears as:
The Supreme Kuṇḍalinī Śakti, whose brilliance flashes like lightning (ṭaṭillatā-samaruciḥ), illuminating the inner sky of consciousness.
She pervades and transcends all six chakras (ṣaṭcakrōpari-saṁsthitā), uniting the entire energy system of the body with the vastness of cosmic consciousness.
As Mahāśaktiḥ, She is the Great Power — the boundless creative energy behind all manifestation.
As Kuṇḍalinī, She rests coiled at the base of the spine, rising gracefully through each chakra like a delicate creeper, awakening wisdom and divine awareness.
As Bisatantu-tanīyasī, She is subtler than the fiber of a lotus thread — the cosmic weaver who holds together the seen and unseen worlds, linking Udal (body), Uyir (life), and Manam (mind) into one continuum of divine energy.
Here, Lalitā embodies grace, power, and cosmic intelligence simultaneously — harmonizing the microcosm and macrocosm, the inner and outer universes.
Meditation:
This verse inspires the aspirant to recognize that divine power is both gentle and supreme. Just as a delicate creeper climbs effortlessly, Kundalini rises through the chakras, activating consciousness without force.
Meditation on this verse reminds us:
- The Mother’s grace pervades every energy center, linking body, mind, and soul.
- She is the cosmic weaver, and every action, thought, and intention is woven into the tapestry of creation.
- By attuning ourselves to Her subtle currents, we awaken our own inner Shakti, harmonizing personal energy with universal consciousness.
Sanskrit: ततिल्लता-समरुचिः
Tamil: தடில்லதா-ஸமருசிஷ்
Meaning: Like a lightning flash across the night sky, Her grace manifests in an instant — awakening dormant consciousness. This is not gradual knowledge but sudden realization, where truth is revealed beyond the grasp of the senses or intellect.
Reflection: When the seeker sits in deep japa (repetition of mantra) — body still, mind steady, awareness centered — Her lightning-like brilliance arises within. It travels through the body, enters the mind, illumines the intellect, touches the soul (Ātman), and finally unites with Śivam — the Supreme. This is sāmarasyam, the harmony between the inner and outer, the finite and infinite.
Contemporary Reflection: In moments of confusion or darkness, a single flash of understanding can change everything. Her presence reminds us that true insight is instantaneous when the heart is pure and focused.
Meditation: “May Her lightning-like brilliance awaken my inner being — illuminating my mind, refining my intellect, purifying my soul, and merging me with the eternal light of Śiva.”

Tamil: ஷட்சக்ரோபரி-ஸம்ஸ்தி²தா
Meaning: She who is enthroned above the six chakras, transcending the entire energy system — from Mūlādhāra to Ājñā — and abides in the supreme state of consciousness beyond all dualities.
Reflection: Through the divine journey of awakening, She establishes harmony between Ānma (soul) and Udal (body). Each chakra represents a stage of inner evolution: 1. Pādaithal – Creation, the spark of life (Mūlādhāra) 2. Iyyakkam – Motion, the unfolding of energy (Svādhiṣṭhāna) 3. Anubhavam – Experience, emotional and mental growth (Maṇipūra) 4. Arivu – Awareness, the opening of heart and wisdom (Anāhata) 5. Nilaipadal – Steadiness, truth in expression (Viśuddha) 6. Irathal – Stillness, perception beyond thought (Ājñā) Having transcended these six, She rests above them — in the thousand-petaled lotus — the realm of pure being and cosmic unity.
Contemporary Reflection: She reminds us that true mastery is not in escaping life, but in rising step by step — transforming every experience into wisdom until we stand above all limitations, free and luminous.
Meditation: “I meditate on Her who reigns above all chakras — the Eternal Witness, the Light of pure awareness, the Mother who liberates through knowledge and fearlessness.”

Tamil: மஹா-ஶக்தி꞉
Meaning: She who is the Great Power — the boundless, self-existent energy from which the universe arises, by which it is sustained, and into which it dissolves. She is the divine source of Sṛṣṭi (creation), Sthiti (preservation), and Laya (transformation).
Reflection: As Mahā-Śaktiḥ, She is not apart from us — She is the very Ātma Śakti, the inner power that animates body (Udal), life (Uyir), and mind (Manam). Whatever exists in the universe also exists within the body. The harmony of these inner forces (Samanpādu) sustains life itself. Though countless powers (Pala ātral) exist, the capacity for these powers to manifest is because Ummaiyammāi herself abides within — She is the enabler, the revealer, and the essence behind every form of energy.
Contemporary Reflection: She reminds us that every act of strength, insight, or love is a spark of Her divine energy. By recognizing Her within, we harmonize all aspects of ourselves — body, mind, and spirit — allowing life to flow with grace and purpose.
Meditation: “I bow to Mahā-Śakti, the great Mother whose presence allows every power to shine forth. May Her energy within me manifest as love, wisdom, and balance in all that I do.”

Tamil: குண்ட³லினீ
Meaning: She who lies coiled like a serpent at the base of the spine — the dormant divine energy awaiting awakening. When aroused, She ascends through the chakras, uniting the individual soul with supreme consciousness.
Reflection: As Kundalinī, She is the Divine Energy of Transformation (Deiviga Ātral), silently residing within every being as infinite potential. When awakened, She refines and elevates each of the five senses (Pulan Ātral) — transforming ordinary perception into divine awareness. Through this awakening, the seeker transcends limitation and attains higher states of consciousness where Divine Vision (Devathā Dharisanam) becomes possible.
Contemporary Reflection: Kundalinī reminds us that the source of all strength and awareness lies within. When we live with focus, purity, and self-discipline, our inner energy naturally awakens — guiding us toward creativity, intuition, and spiritual fulfillment.
Meditation: “I honor the coiled energy within — the Divine Mother as Kundalinī — who awakens my senses, expands my awareness, and unites me with the light of consciousness.”

Tamil: பி³ஸதந்து-தனீயஸீ
Meaning: She who is the daughter of the cosmic thread, the delicate, interconnected energy that weaves the universe together, linking all beings and realms in harmony.
Reflection: As Bisatantu-tanīyasī, She embodies the subtle threads of connection that unite creation. She reminds us that every action, thought, and energy ripple across the cosmic fabric, shaping reality.
Contemporary Reflection: She inspires mindfulness in our relationships and responsibilities, encouraging us to nurture connections, foster harmony, and recognize the intricate interdependence of all life.
