मुखचन्द्रकलङ्काभमृगनाभिविशेषका ॥ ५ ॥
English:
aṣṭamīchandravibhrājadalikasthalaśōbhitā |
mukhachandrakalaṅkābhamr̥ganābhiviśēṣakā ॥ 5 ॥
Tamil:
அஷ்டமீசந்த்³ரவிப்⁴ராஜத³ளிகஸ்த²லஶோபி⁴தா ।
முக²சந்த்³ரகலங்காப⁴ம்ருக³நாபி⁴விஶேஷகா ॥ 5 ॥
Meaning:
In this Fifth verse, Śrī Lalitā is portrayed as the moon-faced goddess of serene beauty:
- Her crescent-moon forehead reminds us of the quiet light of wisdom.
- Her moon-like face, adorned with fragrant musk tilaka, reflects the harmony between visible beauty and invisible inner fragrance.
Meditation:
“I meditate upon Śrī Lalitā, whose forehead gleams like the crescent moon, whose face shines with calm radiance like the full moon, adorned with the fragrance of divine musk. May her serenity fill my mind, and her gentle wisdom illuminate my heart.”

Tamil: அஷ்டமீ-சந்த்³ர-விப்⁴ராஜ-த³ளிகஸ்-த²ல-ஶோபி⁴தா
Meaning: She whose forehead shines like the crescent moon on the eighth lunar day.
Reflection: Her radiant forehead glows like the eighth-day crescent moon — serene and luminous. It signifies calm wisdom and spiritual glow that dispels darkness and delusion.
Contemporary Reflection: The crescent moon on her forehead reminds us of the gentle yet steady light of wisdom guiding us through the darkness. It teaches us to value subtle grace, serenity, and inner calm, especially amidst life’s turbulence.

Meaning: She whose musk mark on the face resembles the beauty spot on the moon.
Reflection: Her face, like the full moon, holds a tender blemish — the musk mark, enhancing her celestial charm and making her beauty sweetly relatable.
Contemporary Reflection: Her face, serene like the moon and marked with the musk tilaka, teaches us that imperfections (like the moon’s blemish) are part of divine beauty. The musk fragrance represents the silent, unseen virtues we carry — precious and fragrant in the world.
