Meaning:
Śrī Lalitā appears in this Third verse not as an external goddess, but as the very force that creates, sustains, and illuminates life itself:
- Her Mind-Bow teaches that conscious thought is a divine tool.
- Her Five Arrows remind us to spiritualize sensory experience.
- Her Crimson Radiance shows that all existence is saturated with divine energy.
Meditation:
“I meditate upon Śrī Lalitā, whose bow is the subtle mind itself, whose arrows are the sensory pathways that connect the soul to the world.
May her cosmic radiance awaken me to the sacred energy that surrounds and nurtures all life, and guide me to master my thoughts and senses in devotion to Her.”
Sanskrit: मनोरूपेक्षु-कोदण्डा
Tamil: மனோரூபேக்ஷு-கோத³ண்டா³
Meaning: She who holds a sugarcane bow, symbolizing the mind.
Reflection: The mind is her weapon — gentle, sweet, yet powerful in directing all actions.
Contemporary Reflection: In today’s context, this reminds us that our thoughts shape our direction. Just as a bow determines where the arrow flies, our mind governs our focus in life. Cultivating positive, focused thinking can align us with higher purposes.
Meditation: I meditate on the Goddess who wields the mind itself as a bow of bliss.
Sanskrit: पञ्चतन्मात्र-सायकाः
Tamil: பஞ்சதன்மாத்ர-ஸாயகா
Meaning: She whose arrows are the five subtle elements (tanmātras).
Reflection: She directs the sensory world — sound, touch, form, taste, and smell — as her arrows of experience.
Contemporary Reflection: In modern terms, our sensory inputs govern much of our mental and emotional life. By becoming conscious of what we hear, see, taste, touch, and smell, we can choose what influences our inner world. Lalitā’s teaching here encourages mindful living and sensory discipline.
Meditation: I bow to Her who manifests the world through the subtle elements as arrows of perception.
Meaning: She who floods the universe with her own reddish aura.
Reflection: Her radiance pervades and illumines all creation — the source of all divine light.
Contemporary Reflection: Think of this as the universal life force or energy field that envelops all existence—a concept parallel to universal consciousness or cosmic energy. Her radiance can be seen as the subtle energy that connects and sustains all, reminding us that life itself is infused with the Divine.
Meditation: I meditate on Her whose glowing aura envelopes the entire cosmos.
